Rabies is a viral disease that affects mammals, including dogs, cats and humans. It is usually transmitted through bites of an infected animal and affects the nervous system. Unfortunately, there is currently no treatment for dogs and cats. Vaccination, therefore, is the most effective way to protect our fur babies and human.

Rabies is found in many countries throughout the world. Hong Kong is one of the few places in the world that is classified as rabies-free. However, rabies outbreak is not unheard of in Hong Kong and the latest outbreaks were in 1950s and 1980s.

Therefore in HK, dog licence and rabies vaccination must be renewed every 3 years. If you are looking to bring your fur babies overseas, most countries/places require them to have rabies vaccination.
